Dr. Ranga Liyanarachchi Kankanamge graduated with MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) at Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo Sri Lanka in 2015. She obtained her specialist qualifications in family medicine at the prestigious Royal College of General Practitioners in the United Kingdom as an international member MRCGP(INT) in May 2025.
She has enrolled in the specialist pathway at Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) to obtain her fellowship. She is a dedicated and a compassionate physician with over six years of expertise in general practice, and extensive clinical experience in children’s health, general medicine, general surgery and anaesthesiology during her tenure of over eight years in public hospitals in Sri Lanka.
Her special interests are children’s health, chronic disease management and women’s health. Born and raised in Sri Lanka, Dr. Ranga moved to Australia in 2024 with her husband and now calls Goulburn her home. She speaks English and Sinhalese. Her husband Dr. Rajitha Samarappulige is also a GP in Marima Medical Clinic.
Outside of work, she is a passionate dancer, a music lover, an ardent reader, a traveller and an interior design enthusiast. She firmly believes in providing empathetic, holistic and patient centred care to her patients.
